Podiatric Surgery

Podiatric surgery is a specialist form of foot operation performed by specialist podiatric surgeons.

Overview of the service

Podiatric surgery manages pathologies of the fore, mid and rear foot and can include some ankle problems. Within this service, podiatric surgery is performed using local anaesthetic and undertaken on a day-care basis (with the patient going home on the day of the operation).

Who can access this service?

The podiatry service is open to patients who are:

  • Over 16 years of age
  • Registered with a Sutton GP

This service is not suitable for patients who

  • Require a general anaesthetic. These patients should be referred to orthopaedics.

Team members who could be involved in patient care

  • Consultant podiatric surgeon,
  • Staff podiatrist

Is patient self-referral available?

No, patients need to be referred to this service by their GP.

Is transport provided?

No, patients need to provide their own transport.

Are home visits available?

No, patients need to travel to their nearest clinic.
